AUTHORITIES MONITOR IMPLEMENTATION OF RECOVERY

The Ministry of the Environment has approved the Environmental Register of Packaging PYR Ltd as the controller of the register containing packers and importers of packed products in Finland. The Ministry of the Environment in conjunction with Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment for Pirkanmaa monitors the implementation of recovery and they are authorised to issue more precise regulations and instructions.

Cooperation between PYR and Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment for Pirkanmaa

PYR annually submits packaging statistics to Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment for Pirkanmaa. They are compiled by PYR on the basis of data reported by registered firms.

PYR regularly provides Pirkanmaa with a list of firms under contract with PYR. Pirkanmaa does not then demand a report on the recovery of packaging waste from these firms.
